A girl raised only by her father due to the death of her mother. As she grows, she learns that she is part Fae and has special abilities to help others. Determined to improve the world now and in the future, she teaches others how to apply "The Golden Rule".
Golden Rule was not always a superhero. She was just a normal young girl. He mother had passed away when she was a toddler. She has only a slight picture in her mind of what she looked like, but she was very pretty. She was raised by her father who did all he could for his daughter to raise her right and make her mother proud. All she had of her mothers was a box with a few things that seemed odd for her mother to have left for her. There was a note in an envelope marked, “You will know when to open”, a broken pocket watch, and an old metal ring which looked like the ones she had seen on the heads of women in her fairy tale books.
She was a very emotional child. She didn’t think she was a sad person, but tended to cry for no reason – even at movies. Her father would always smile as he hugged her in these times, like this was a good thing. To comfort her he would say that her mother was just like her and this would come in handy someday. She didn’t understand, but loved the fact that she was like her mother in some way.
As she was growing into a teen, she realized that these emotional times could be altered by being around one person at a time, like she could feel whatever they were feeling. When she finally sat down and asked her father if this was what he ment all those years, he said it was finally time to open the note in the box. Her mother would explain what she was feeling. Then he reminded her of how special her mother was and how much he loved her mother – and her. Afterwards he sent her upstairs to read the letter from her mom.
The letter was in the most beautiful handwriting. It explained how lovely she must have grown up to be. The fact she was reading this must mean that she took after her side of the family. Her mother explained that she was what was known in literature as a Fae. So were her mother and her mother’s mother. A Fae is magical creature, much like a fairy. Powers may vary and it is up to the individual to use these for good or evil. The circlet, as she called it, was a magically made tiara of sorts. It is used to focus the empathic feeling or control it in larger situations. The watch was also a magically made gift, handed down for several generations. It wasn’t broken – it was frozen in time. Only a Fae could work it. To work it is to freeze time yourself. This can only be done for a short period of time. The watch is the only keeper of how much time can be frozen. Her mom just said to use this time wisely.
The letter went on to tell of the other powers the women in her family have had and their good and bad properties. Since her mom did not know what other powers she might develop, she wanted to cover all the bases.
As a teen, she only used these powers to help her friends and those she met that she felt needed her. It wasn’t until college that she realized there was so much more she could do with this.
She created her own costume, for she didn’t want people to know it was her. People knowing she was a Fae could be a problem. She used her circlet to find those in need and helped them. A lot of time she found herself on a playground helping kids being bullied. She began using her watch to stop time and explain the Golden Rule to the companions with the one being bullied; that they just need to courage to help and to explain what they can do. Also, time freezing was used to explain to the bully the error of their ways.
As she grew as a woman and superhero of sorts, she also realized that she had what some would call good karma. This was one power not explained in her mother’s letter, so she was on her own to figure this one out. In this case, it worked as reciprication would. As long as she was doing good, good would come to her. If she was doing things in anger or other negative reason, bad things followed. This also seemed to expand to those she was working with. She didn’t know it, but later in life against real villains, this would be a very big blessing!
She also started trying to play with what her mother referred to as earth elements. Some of her relatives could walk on water, control rocks and earth, and even manipulate the weather. She discovered she could create small fireballs. She didn’t know how this would ever come in handy, except for creating a fire while camping, but she is still working on developing this ability – just in case.
Today, Golden Rule is still a superhero in training. She is practicing and improving her skills everyday. She is also searching for those who need her to help them. She is also trying to teach the next generation how to apply the golden rule, in hopes that they will strive to improve the world and not fall into the hands of villians.
